What to ask Codex
Type these in Codex. Change the details to fit your posts.
- “Turn this blog post into a 5-part X thread and schedule it for Tuesday at 9am.”
- “Post this screenshot on X tomorrow at noon and only let people I follow reply.”
- “Write 7 short tips about email marketing and schedule one on X every morning this week.”

- “What X posts do I have scheduled for next week?”
What happens next
- 1
You ask in Codex, in plain words.
- 2
Codex lists the channels you connected in BrokenPost and picks your X account.
- 3
It reads X's rules and settings from BrokenPost, so the post fits X's limits before it is written.
- 4
If you shared a picture, a video or a link to one, it uploads it to your media library.
- 5
It creates the post as scheduled, as a draft, or to go out now, and gives you a preview link.
- 6
At the set time BrokenPost publishes it to X and it shows on your calendar.
X limits Codex follows
Codex reads these rules from BrokenPost before it writes, so the post fits the first time.
| Characters | 280 characters (4,000 for verified (Premium) accounts, up to 100,000 for articles) |
|---|---|
| Media | Up to 4 pictures or 1 video per post, or text only |

X settings you can ask for
Say them in plain words, like "who can reply (everyone, people you follow, people you mention, subscribers, verified accounts)", and Codex sets them on the post.
- Who can reply (everyone, people you follow, people you mention, subscribers, verified accounts)
- Post to an X Community
- Post or article
- Article title, cover picture and draft or published
- Made with AI label
- Paid partnership label
If X rejects a post
Codex sees the same message and can fix the post for you.
| What you see | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| You are not allowed to create a post with duplicate content | X blocks posts that match one you sent before. Change a few words, or add a picture, and schedule it again. |
| There must be a maximum of 4 items per post | Remove pictures until there are 4 or fewer, or send one video instead. |
| There can be maximum of one cashtag ($SYMBOL) per post | Keep one $TICKER per post and move the rest to a reply. |
| Publishing articles on X requires an X Premium subscription | Articles need X Premium on that account. Post it as a thread instead, or upgrade on X. |
| X rate limit reached, please try again later | X limits how often an app can post. Space your posts out by a few minutes and retry. |
| X authentication has expired, please reconnect your account | Open the channel in BrokenPost and click reconnect. Your scheduled posts stay in place. |
Good to know
- Regular accounts get 280 characters. Turn on Verified in the X settings of a channel to use 4,000.
- You can mix pictures or one video, not both, in one post.
- Threads are posted part by part, each one as a reply to the one before.
- Codex only posts when you ask. Ask for a draft to check the post in BrokenPost first.
